Tottenham Hotspur turn attention to Aston Villa midfielder after Eze deal collapses
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly turned their interest to Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa following a dramatic collapse in their pursuit of Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Spurs are now enquiring about Rogers as they scramble for creativity in the wake of James Maddison's long-term injury and the fallout of the Eze transfer saga. With Arsenal swooping in to hijack Eze’s move, Spurs find themselves urgently seeking a replacement to fill the void in their attacking midfield.
Fabrizio Romano's comments:
Morgan Rogers is viewed internally as a “dream target” at Tottenham Hotspur. The sports journalist emphasized that Tottenham regard Rogers as a near-perfect fit for Thomas Frank’s system.

However, the deal is considered almost impossible from an Aston Villa standpoint. Aston Villa are strongly determined to keep Morgan Rogers this season as they look to build on their success of qualifying for the Europa League and battle for a top four place once again this season.
What Morgan Rogers means to Aston Villa
Morgan Rogers has seamlessly filled Villa’s creative engine room, operating as an attacking midfielder, winger, or No. 10. His vision, flair, and end product have added a new dimension to Unai Emery’s setup.
His incredible 24/25 season, where he registered 14 goals and 16 assists, recently saw him acknowledged with the PFA Young Player of the Year award. With a deal running until 2030 and such high valuation, Morgan Rogers represents a long-term asset to the club.
While Villa have faced financial constraints under UEFA’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, Morgan Rogers is too vital to consider selling. In a summer where the club have already been forced to sell Jacob Ramsey, Rogers' value on the pitch makes him more valuable than the easing of PSR constraints off the pitch and you would need to have exceptional scouting to find a suitable replacement for the 23-year old with just ten days to go in the transfer window.
